Beacon
Inspired by the ancient warning beacons once built from wood and lit to signal danger — this Beacon is a modern take on that timeless idea.
Instead of fire, it's a powerful QR code sticker you place on your property you want to protect — your car, motorhome, helmets, caravan, boat or even your home. If something goes wrong, anyone can scan it to notify you instantly. It's peace of mind, powered by the community.

Manager(s)
-
The e-mail address of the person who will manage this Beacon - usually your own e-mail address.
Family & Friends
-
Family & Friends are people you (the Manager) would like to receive notifications when the Beacon is triggered (lit).
-
You might not have 10 to 15 people to notify — and that's fine. Most just want peace of mind knowing they can be reached in multiple ways, so Managers often enter both mobile numbers and email addresses for each Family or Friends.
Passer-by
-
We use the word Passer-by as a colloquial term to describe a person who triggers (lights) the Beacon.
-
They could be a literal passer-by, postal worker, neighbour, delivery person, emergency service worker and so on.
Beacon Alias ID
-
When you have a Beacon, it has it's own URL, and it's that URL that is used to create the QR Code and in that URL is the unique Beacon Alias ID we use to identify your Beacon.
-
https://beacon.my-beacon.app/BCDE1234
In the URL example above, the Beacon Alias ID is 'BCDE1234'.

Text Message Credit
-
Some Beacon services support Text Message notifications, and come Credited with certain amount of Text Message Credits included in the price.
If a Beacon Family or Friend is setup using a mobile number, then each notification they receive via Text Message will decrement the Text Message Credit.
-
E-mail is always the backup, and is why Managers of a Beacon are always required to be setup with an e-mail address.
